GOTTA GO

INTRODUCTION

GottaGo! started in 2013 in Ottawa by a group from the Citizen’s Academy who wanted to help everyone have access to clean, free bathrooms and water fountains.

They work to put these facilities in busy places like bus stations and parks so they’re easy for everyone to use, whether they’re walking, in a wheelchair, or need any other help. GottaGo! talks to city leaders to make sure these spots are all around the city, making it nicer for everyone who lives or visits here.

POSTERS

A type-centric poster series, designed with puns and unapologetic language, urging individuals to take action by signing the peetition.

These posters will also be shared on social media platforms to amplify the events unfolding in the physical world. They will serve to showcase the enthusiasm at protests, document instances of wrongdoing or positive developments, and broadcast the diverse voices and opinions of many individuals.

THE PEECEFUL PROTEST

Integrated Campaign

April, 2024

OBJECTIVE

The City of Toronto to Install an accessible public toilet network around the city.

IDEA

Make an ad campaign urging the residents to recognize the problem and, instead of remaining silent and suffering, to speak up and give a voice to the growing issue of the lack of a public washroom network.

Insight

Individuals often choose silence and discomfort, than confront embarrassing topics head-on.

SOCIAL MEDIA

YARD SIGNS

Expanding on the poster theme, yard signs will be installed as part of out-of-home (OOH) campaigning. Individuals can display these in their front yards to show support for the campaign. Possible designs for the yard signs could mirror those used for street displays, offering consistency in messaging and visuals across different platforms. These posters could be easily adapted for use as yard signs, maximizing the campaign's reach and impact.

THE PEECEFUL WEBSITE

After scanning the QR code, users will be directed to a website compatible across all devices, ensuring accessibility for The Peeceful Protest. This compatibility ensures that users can easily access and engage with the petition.

Here they will have the option to sign the Peetition, allowing them to have their voices heard and speak out about an important issue.

Users will then be prompted to drop a pin and advocate for a restroom where they believe it’s necessary and beneficial for everyone, before submitting their peetition.

Another feature of the website is that users are able to locate nearby restrooms, a service available to everyone, even if they haven’t signed the petition.

This feature will be continually updated as the network expands.

THE PEECEFUL DEMONSTRATION

Once enough residents have signed the Peetition, a giant, life-size roll of toilet paper adorned with their signatures will be placed as a protest demonstration in front of City Hall.

This demonstration aims to remind our elected representatives of the city’s urgent need of a Public Washroom Network and to bring our voices directly to them.

These updates will also be shared on social media platforms to amplify the events unfolding in the physical world.

They will serve to showcase the enthusiasm at protests, document instances of wrongdoing or positive developments, and broadcast the diverse voices and opinions of many individuals.
